Popular core plywood has white softwood throughout all inner layers. It is lightweight and the most affordable option. Commonly used in budget plywood from South India and Gujarat local manufacturers.
Suitable for temporary furniture, rental properties and low-use applications where cost is the priority.
Alternate core plywood has alternating red hardwood and white softwood layers inside. The red wood adds strength and durability that popular core cannot match.

Gurjan core plywood has red hardwood throughout. It is the strongest and most durable core type available.
However, a fully red core has one weakness — when a screw or nail is driven in, the dense red wood can crack or split. Plywood manufactured locally in Gujarat is available at competitive prices, similar in tier to South India material. It is a budget option often used for low-cost residential and commercial projects.
While convenient for local procurement, Gujarat local material generally does not match Yamunanagar quality for durability and consistency.
