E0 vs E1 Plywood: What Is the Difference?
Emission classes rate how much formaldehyde the adhesive can release. Lower is cleaner.

Emission class is separate from water grade. An MR, BWR or BWP (marine) sheet can each be made in E0 or E1, so you choose both: the water grade for the room (see MR vs BWR vs BWP) and the emission class for the air quality you want.
Where E0 is worth it: anything enclosed and used daily at close range, such as wardrobes, bed boxes, children's furniture and kitchen cabinets in small, closed kitchens. Where E1 is fine: open shelving, TV units, office desks and well-ventilated rooms.
