Bedroom Wall Design: 12 Bed Back Wall Ideas with Materials and Cost
The wall behind your bed is the first thing you notice in a bedroom and the backdrop to everything else in it. Here are twelve modern bedroom wall design ideas, which board and finish suits each, how to plan the wall before the carpenter starts, and what a 10 × 9 ft panelled wall costs in materials at our Lati Bazar store: from about ₹3,633.

How to Plan a Bed Back Wall
Height: a half-height panel of 4 to 4.5 ft suits most rooms; full height makes a low ceiling feel taller. Width: at least the bed plus both side tables, or the full wall. Wiring first: mark reading lights, bedside switches, charging points, the AC point and any LED strip before the panel is made, and run wires in conduit behind it. Framing: fix the panel on battens so it sits flat on uneven walls and leaves room for wires. Damp walls: if the wall is shared with a bathroom or faces the monsoon, use HDHMR or BWP plywood and leave a small air gap. Joints: plan where sheets meet so joints fall on grooves, trims or the bed centre line.
Choosing the Finish
Matte and textured woodgrain laminates are the easiest to live with; veneer gives the richest look; paint on MDF suits grooves and curves. Keep one strong feature on the bed wall and quieter finishes elsewhere, and match the wood tone to the wardrobe and bedroom door. Common Mistakes
Building the panel before the wiring is planned; one thin panel on a damp wall; high gloss behind the bed (reflections from bedside lights); joints in the middle of the headboard; and too many materials on one wall.
