Finishing MDF Doors
PU paint: seal the edges with primer first (MDF edges soak up paint), then sand and apply two or three coats. Laminate: apply on both faces so the shutter stays flat. Common Mistakes
Interior MDF in a kitchen or bathroom; unsealed edges; finishing only one face; too few hinges on tall, heavy shutters; and ordinary wood screws that strip in MDF edges. For room doors, a flush door is more stable; see flush door designs.
