MDF Board Dealer in Ahmedabad
Interior, Exterior, HDMR and Boilo. 3mm to 25mm. In-house CNC cutting. Wholesale & retail pricing at Lati Bazar since 1980 — Century, Greenpanel and E3 MDF in stock.
Why Buy MDF from Samta Plywood Centre
MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is made by pressing wood fibres with resin under heat, producing a board with no grain, no knots and no voids. That gives it a perfectly flat, uniform surface — which is exactly why it has become the default material for painted shutters, CNC-routed jaali panels, wall panelling and modular furniture across Ahmedabad.
We have been supplying board materials at Lati Bazar since 1980. We stock all four MDF types — Interior, Exterior, HDMR and Boilo — in Century, Greenpanel and E3, cut them to size in-house, and quote the same wholesale rate to a single-sheet retail buyer as to a contractor placing a bulk order.
MDF Types We Stock
The one question that decides everything is how much water the board will meet. Interior MDF in a kitchen will swell within a season — and equally, paying for Boilo on a bedroom wardrobe is money thrown away. The four types below run from dry-area use up to fully boiling-water-proof.
Interior MDF
The base board. Flawlessly smooth surface for paint, lacquer and CNC routing — the reason MDF gets specified in the first place. Use it anywhere that stays dry: wardrobes, TV units, wall panels, bedroom furniture.
Exterior MDF
Bonded to resist water rather than merely tolerate humidity. The step up when a panel will see occasional splashing or sustained damp — utility areas, semi-covered balconies, washbasin surrounds.
HDMR MDF
High Density Moisture Resistant — denser and heavier than Interior, so it holds screws and hinges far better while also resisting moisture. The default choice for kitchen shutters and bathroom vanity units across Ahmedabad.
Boilo MDF
Boiling water proof — the highest water resistance available in MDF, and the closest equivalent to BWP grade in plywood. Specify it where the board will take direct, repeated water contact and nothing less will survive.

MDF Brands We Stock
We carry MDF from three manufacturers, covering the full range from budget project work to premium modular jobs. All types are available across our stocked thicknesses — call to confirm which brand a specific type and thickness is currently in.
Century MDF
From CenturyPly, one of India's most recognised board manufacturers. Consistent density and reliable thickness tolerance — a safe specification for modular furniture. See our full CenturyPly range →
Greenpanel MDF
India's largest MDF manufacturer, producing at scale on dedicated MDF lines. Strong surface finish for painted and CNC work, with the widest spread of thicknesses.
E3 MDF
Competitively priced without dropping to unbranded stock. Popular with contractors on volume jobs where the board will be laminated or painted over.
Not sure which brand suits your budget? WhatsApp the type, thickness and quantity to 8460783619 and we will quote across all three.
Thickness & Size Reference
All MDF is stocked in the standard 8 ft × 4 ft sheet (32 sq ft per sheet). Pick the thickness by the load the panel has to carry, not by habit.
| Thickness | Best Used For | Common Application |
|---|---|---|
| 3 mm | Thin backing sheets | Wardrobe backs, drawer bottoms, cabinet lining |
| 6 mm | Light panels & overlays | Back panels, CNC jaali screens, decorative overlays |
| 9 mm | Secondary panels | Wall panelling, light dividers, box internals |
| 12 mm | Medium panels | Shelves, partitions, headboards, ceiling panels |
| 18 mm | Main panels & shutters | Cabinet shutters, wardrobe doors, furniture panels |
| 25 mm | Heavy-duty surfaces | Tabletops, counters, thick moulded profiles |
Standard sheet size: 8 ft × 4 ft (244 cm × 122 cm). Stock availability varies by grade and thickness — please confirm before visiting.
Where MDF Works Best
MDF is not a cheaper substitute for plywood — it is a different material with a different job. These are the applications where it genuinely outperforms plywood.
🎨 Painted Shutters & Doors
No grain to telegraph through paint. MDF gives the flattest possible finish for duco, PU and high-gloss shutters.
🪚 CNC Jaali & Screen Panels
The uniform core machines cleanly with no voids or splinters — ideal for jaali partitions, temple designs and cut-out screens.
🖼️ Decorative Wall Panelling
Fluted, grooved and moulded wall panels are routed straight into Interior MDF, then painted or laminated on site.
🛏️ Wardrobe & Bedroom Furniture
Dry-area interiors, headboards and dressing units where a smooth painted or laminated surface matters more than screw strength.
🍳 Kitchen Shutters (HDMR)
HDMR or better. It handles kitchen humidity and steam — Interior MDF will swell and delaminate within a season.
🏢 Retail & Exhibition Fixtures
Fast to cut, easy to finish and cost-effective for display units, shop fixtures and short-life exhibition builds.
MDF vs Plywood — Which Should You Use?
The honest answer for most Ahmedabad interiors is both: plywood for the carcass that carries load and takes screws, MDF for the shutters and panels that need a perfect painted or routed finish.
| Consideration | MDF Board | Plywood |
|---|---|---|
| Surface finish | Perfectly smooth, no grain — best for paint | Visible grain; needs filling before painting |
| Screw holding | Weaker, especially at edges | Strong — better for hinges and load joints |
| Moisture tolerance | Poor in Interior grade; Exterior, HDMR and Boilo handle it | BWP / marine grades are fully waterproof |
| CNC & routing | Excellent — clean edges, no voids | Good, but core voids can show at cut edges |
| Weight | Heavier per sheet | Lighter per sheet |
| Best used for | Shutters, panelling, jaali, painted furniture | Carcasses, shelves, kitchens, wet areas |
Because most jobs use both, it pays to cost them together — our current plywood price list for Ahmedabad gives thickness-wise rates you can put next to the MDF rates above. Temple & Mandir Designs
Detailed routed panels and cut-out backdrops for home mandir units.

What to Check Before You Buy MDF
1. The type, by name
Interior, Exterior, HDMR and Boilo look alike in a stack. Ask for the type by name and check the maker's stamp on the board face.
2. IS:12406 marking
Look for the Indian Standard marking on the board face. Unmarked stock is a warning sign.
3. Thickness tolerance
Measure the actual thickness at two corners. Undersize boards throw off shutter alignment on modular work.
4. Edge condition
Edges should be firm and clean. Soft, crumbling or damp edges mean the sheet has taken moisture in storage.
5. Formaldehyde class
Ask for the emission class. E1 or better is the sensible minimum for enclosed interior furniture.
6. Flatness
Sight along the sheet. Bowed MDF will not straighten out once fixed — reject it at the shop, not at site.
