Flush Door Designs: 12 Modern Ideas for Every Room, with Price
A flush door is a flat, smooth door made of a timber frame and core covered with plywood skins on both sides. That flat face is exactly what makes it so versatile: it takes laminate, veneer, grooves, glass and metal inlays, so one standard door can look minimal, warm or dramatic. Here are twelve flush door designs, which core and grade suit each room, and what a 7 × 3 ft laminated flush door costs at our Lati Bazar store: from about ₹4,541.
12 Modern Flush Door Designs
1. Plain laminated door
A flat shutter with 1 mm laminate on both faces. Clean, durable and the most popular choice for bedrooms and passages.
How: Any flush door + laminate
2. Woodgrain laminate
Teak, oak, walnut or ash woodgrain gives the warmth of timber with no polishing. Run the grain vertically to make the door look taller.
How: See woodgrain laminates
3. Matte solid colour
Soft white, grey, sage, navy or charcoal in a matte or suede finish for minimal, modern homes. Hides fingerprints better than gloss.
How: See matte laminates
4. High-gloss door
Reflects light and makes a small corridor feel brighter. Best in low-traffic rooms, as gloss shows scratches and smudges.
How: See high-gloss laminates
5. Dual-tone door
Two laminates on one door: a vertical or horizontal split, or one colour inside the room and another facing the corridor.
How: Two laminate designs
6. Grooved or routed lines
Horizontal, vertical or geometric grooves cut into the face before laminating or veneering. Adds depth without carving.
How: Double core or BWP door, routing labour extra
7. Fluted laminate door
Ribbed or fluted laminate panels, full height or as a centre band, for a textured designer look.
How: See fluted laminates
8. Metal inlay strips
Thin aluminium, brass-finish or stainless steel strips set into grooves create sharp lines on a plain door.
How: Grooves + inlay strip (extra)
9. Glass vision panel
A narrow frosted, fluted or clear glass strip lets light pass while keeping privacy. Good for studies, kitchens and offices.
How: Cut-out + glass + beading
10. Natural veneer door
Teak, walnut or oak veneer, polished in PU or melamine, for real wood grain on a stable flush core.
How: See veneer door designs
11. Textured, stone or digital print
Stone, concrete, fabric or printed digital laminates for a feature door in a living room or shop.
How: See digital laminates
12. Hidden flush-to-wall door
The door is finished in the same colour as the wall, with concealed hinges and no architrave, so it disappears.
How: Laminate or paint matched to wall

Plywood Door Designs: What Buyers Mean by a “Plywood Door”
In most Indian homes, a plywood door is a flush door: a timber frame and core with plywood skins on both faces. Every design above is a plywood door design. Trending looks now are minimal matte doors, vertical-grain woodgrain, grooves with metal inlays, routed panel patterns (see panel door designs) and veneer with a PU finish. A solid-core plywood door also closes more tightly and blocks more sound and heat than a hollow door, which helps rooms with an AC. Standard sizes are 7 × 3 ft for bedrooms and 7 × 2.5 ft for bathrooms; see the door size chart.
What Is Inside a Flush Door?
A flush door has a hardwood frame (stiles and rails), a core, and plywood face skins pressed on both sides. The core decides strength and flatness: pine mix is the economical choice, double core stays flatter and holds hardware better, and a BWP door bonded with waterproof resin survives bathrooms and kitchens. Solid-core doors are heavier and quieter than hollow ones. More in types of flush doors (see also what is a flush door), solid core vs hollow core and flush door thickness.
Design Tips
Laminate both faces, even if one side is hidden, so the door does not bow. Seal every edge, especially the bottom, with edge band or beading. Plan grooves and glass cut-outs before the door is laminated, and keep them away from the lock and hinge zones. Match the laminate to the wardrobe or wall panelling for a joined-up room, and choose matte or textured finishes for doors that get touched a lot. For a veneer or laminate decision, see veneer door vs laminate door.
Common Mistakes
Using an MR door in a bathroom; laminating only one face; routing deep grooves into a thin pine-mix door; heavy glass panels in a light door; and skipping the bottom-edge seal. If you need a door that cannot swell at all, look at WPC doors or PVC doors for wet areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a flush door design?
A flush door has a flat, smooth face on both sides with no raised panels. Its design comes from the finish: laminate, veneer, grooves, fluted panels, metal inlay strips, glass vision panels or paint.
Which flush door design is best for a bedroom?
A 30 mm MR double core flush door with woodgrain, matte or dual-tone laminate, or the same laminate as the wardrobe for a matching look.
What is the price of a laminated flush door in Ahmedabad?
At Samta Plywood Centre, a 7 x 3 ft flush door with 1 mm laminate on both faces costs about ₹4,541 in 30 mm MR pine mix, ₹4,940 in 30 mm MR double core and ₹5,465 in 32 mm BWP, before frame, hardware, labour and GST.
What is a plywood door?
In India, a plywood door usually means a flush door: a timber frame and core with plywood skins pressed on both faces, finished with laminate, veneer or paint.
Are plywood doors good for homes?
Yes. Branded plywood flush doors are stable, affordable and easy to finish. Choose MR grade for dry rooms, BWP for bathrooms and kitchens, and solid or double core for better strength and sound insulation.
Can flush doors have grooves?
Yes. Grooves can be routed into the face before laminating or veneering. Use a double core or BWP door so there is enough material, and keep grooves away from the lock and hinges.
Which flush door is best for a bathroom?
A 32 mm BWP flush door with laminate on both faces and every edge sealed. For zero swelling risk, a WPC or PVC door is an alternative.
Can a flush door have glass?
Yes. A cut-out with a frosted, fluted or clear glass vision panel is common for kitchens, studies and offices. Plan it before laminating.
Is veneer or laminate better on a flush door?
Laminate is tougher and needs no polish; veneer gives real wood grain and can be re-polished. Many homes use veneer on the main door and laminate on the rest.
