Board Guide · PVC vs WPC
PVC vs WPC: Boards and Doors Compared for Strength, Water and Price
PVC and WPC are both waterproof, termite-proof alternatives to wood. PVC foam board is pure plastic foam: light, white and economical. WPC (wood plastic composite) blends wood fibre with polymer: denser, stronger, better at holding screws and with a wood-like feel. That makes the choice clear for most jobs once you know the differences. Here is the comparison for boards and bathroom doors, with Ahmedabad prices.
What is PVC board?
Expanded polyvinyl chloride foam pressed into rigid sheets. Fully waterproof, light and easy to cut, with a smooth white face. Best for indoor wet-area furniture. See Flexibond PVC foam board.
What is WPC board?
Wood fibre or flour bonded with polymer into a dense foam board. Waterproof like PVC but harder, stiffer and better at holding screws, with a wood-like texture. Also made into solid doors and door frames. See Flexibond WPC foam board.

Flexibond PVC doors come in the same 24, 28 and 30 mm thicknesses as the WPC doors; the 30 mm PVC door is ₹224 per sq ft, and 24 and 28 mm rates are on request. WPC doors never swell at the bottom edge, which is the usual failure point of bathroom doors. A 32 mm BWP flush door with sealed edges is the lower-cost wooden alternative; see best door for bathroom, flush doors for bathrooms and door sizes. WPC door frames are also available by the running foot; see WPC doors (see also PVC doors) and WPC door for bathroom.
Which Should You Choose?
Choose PVC for indoor wet-area furniture on a budget: bathroom vanities, under-sink units, utility and laundry cabinets, and partitions. Choose WPC where you need more strength or screw holding: bathroom and utility doors, door frames, wider shelves, and semi-outdoor furniture under cover. For dry rooms, neither is necessary; plywood is stronger and cheaper. See PVC board vs plywood (see also PVC kitchen cabinets) and WPC vs plywood; for kitchens, see modular kitchen materials compared (see also multiwood vs plywood).
What to Check Before You Buy
Density: ask for it; higher density means a stiffer board and better screw holding. Thickness: 18 mm or more for load-bearing sides and doors. Surface: check for dents, bubbles and an even colour. Hardware: use screws and hinges suited to foam boards, and pre-drill. Heat: keep both away from direct heat such as a hob or geyser vent.
Environmental Note
WPC uses wood fibre, often recycled, which reduces the plastic content; PVC is fully synthetic but very long-lasting in wet areas, so it rarely needs replacing. Both avoid the waste of swollen, rotted wood in bathrooms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between PVC and WPC?
PVC board is plastic foam: light, fully waterproof and economical. WPC is a wood-fibre and polymer composite: also waterproof, but denser, stronger, better at holding screws and with a wood-like texture.
Which is better, PVC or WPC?
WPC is better where strength and screw holding matter, such as doors, frames and wider shelves. PVC is better value for indoor wet-area furniture such as vanities and sink units.
Which is better for a bathroom door, PVC or WPC?
WPC. It is waterproof like PVC but solid and heavier, so it feels sturdier and holds hinges and locks better. At our store, a 7 x 2.5 ft, 24 mm WPC door costs about ₹3,130 before GST.
What is the price of WPC board in Ahmedabad?
At Samta Plywood Centre, Flexibond WPC board is ₹68 per sq ft in 8 mm, ₹99 in 12 mm and ₹146 in 18 mm, GST extra.
Is PVC cheaper than WPC?
Yes. 18 mm PVC board is ₹105 (Gold) or ₹138 (Standard) per sq ft at our store, against ₹146 for 18 mm WPC.
Can WPC be used outdoors?
WPC handles rain and humidity well and suits covered balconies and semi-outdoor furniture. Protect it from constant direct sun, which can fade the surface.
What thickness do PVC doors come in?
Flexibond PVC doors are available in 24, 28 and 30 mm, the same thicknesses as Flexibond WPC doors. Use 24 mm for bathrooms and 28 to 30 mm for heavier use.
Are PVC and WPC termite-proof?
Yes. Neither contains solid wood that termites feed on, which is a major reason they are used in bathrooms and damp areas.
