Tips for a Long-Lasting Double Door
Use a strong frame: a wide double door is heavy, so choose a 5″ × 2.5″ frame in teak or WPC. Use four hinges per leaf on main doors, plus a tower bolt top and bottom on the fixed leaf. Add a door closer or stopper so leaves do not slam. Seal all edges of flush doors and polish veneer on both faces. Plan hardware early: a digital lock or long pull handle needs the right core at the lock position. Weather: for sun- or rain-facing entrances, BWP or WPC doors and a projecting canopy protect the finish.
Common Mistakes
Equal leaves that are too narrow for daily use; a thin frame for a heavy door; veneer polished on the outside only; MR doors on an exposed entrance; and no plan for the lock and handle. For carved classic doors, see teak wood door designs; for modern flat doors, flush door designs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the standard size of a double door?
A main entrance double door in a flat is usually 7 ft high and 4 to 5 ft wide; villas often use 7.5 to 8 ft by 5 to 6 ft. Leaves can be equal or one wide and one narrow.
What is the price of a double door in Ahmedabad?

Which material is best for a main double door?
A 35 mm BWP flush door with veneer or laminate for most flats, solid teak for carved traditional doors, and 30 mm WPC where the door faces rain or damp.
Is a double door better than a single door?
A double door gives a grander entrance and a wider opening for furniture. A single door needs less wall width and costs less. See our single vs double door guide.
Can a double door have glass?
Yes. Glass panels suit living rooms, foyers and balconies. For main entrances, use toughened glass in a strong frame, or keep glass to small panels.
What frame is needed for a double door?
A wide, heavy double door needs a strong frame, typically 5 x 2.5 inch in teak or WPC, with four hinges per leaf.
Which double door design is trending?
Straight-line veneer doors with long handles, grooved doors with metal inlays, unequal-leaf doors, dark statement colours and fluted glass panels.
