Veneer Sheet Price in Ahmedabad

Veneer is real wood, so two bundles of the same species can price very differently. Here is how veneer quotes are built, the price ladder from recon to walnut, what the finished surface really costs, and how to get today's rate from our Lati Bazar showroom.

Why Veneer Has No Single "Rate"

Laminate is a factory product: one shade code costs the same on every sheet, so we can publish a fixed laminate price list. Veneer is a slice of a real log. Two bundles of "teak veneer" can differ in grain, colour, figure and the share of usable leaves, and the price follows the bundle, not the name. That is why every honest veneer dealer quotes per bundle or per sheet, on the day.

What we can tell you is how the price is built, where each type sits on the ladder, and what the finished surface really costs once polish and labour are added. That way you can compare quotes properly. For today's rate on a specific species, WhatsApp us the type, quantity and use. We reply with options from current stock.

Three Teak Veneers, Three Different Looks

Real sheets at our counter, each with clear polish on the bottom half. All three are teak, yet the grain, colour and figure differ, which is exactly why veneer is priced by the bundle.

Seven Things That Decide a Veneer Quote

1 · Species

Which tree

Recon and ash are kind on the budget; walnut and figured species are not. See teak vs walnut veneer.

2 · Natural or recon

Log or re-formed block

Natural costs more and varies; recon is cheaper and uniform. Natural vs engineered.

3 · Cut

Crown, quarter or rift

Straight quarter and rift cuts waste more log, so they price higher. Types of veneer by cut.

4 · Grade

Clean vs character

Leaves without knots, mineral streaks or splits sell at a premium.

5 · Format

Loose leaf or veneer ply

Face veneer is about 0.3–0.6 mm; ready veneer sheets on thin ply are about 3.5–4 mm. Veneer thickness guide.

6 · Matching

Book-match from one bundle

A matched sequence for a wall or a set of doors costs more than random sheets, and is worth it.

7 · Quantity

Whole lot vs a few sheets

Buying the full lot for a room locks in colour and usually the better rate.

The Real Cost Is the Finished Surface

Comparing veneer with laminate on the sheet price alone misleads. A laminate is finished the moment it is pasted. A veneer still needs sanding, sealer and polish (PU, melamine or a clear lacquer), plus the polisher's labour, and that can cost as much as the veneer itself. So when you compare, add up four lines:

1. Veneer for both faces (always balance the back with veneer or laminate so the panel does not bow). 2. Base board: MR plywood or a flush door; a 7 × 3 ft, 30 mm MR double-core door shutter is about ₹2,520 at our rates. 3. Polish materials. 4. Polishing labour. For the same 7 × 3 ft door finished in 1 mm laminate on both faces, the total is about ₹4,940 before GST. That is your benchmark for "is veneer worth the extra?". Our veneer door vs laminate door guide walks through it.

Veneer vs solid teak

Veneer's whole case is cost. Solid Ghana teak at our timber rates (₹2,200–2,400 per cubic foot) works out to over ₹130 per sq ft at 18 mm thickness, before wastage, and solid wood moves with the seasons. A teak veneer on stable plywood gives the same face for a fraction of that. Solid teak rates are on our timber page, and the full comparison is in veneer vs solid wood.

Five Rules Before You Pay for Veneer

Rule 1

Buy the whole room in one lot

Natural veneer from two bundles will not match. Count every shutter, wall and back face first.

Rule 2

See it in daylight, wet

Wipe a leaf with a damp cloth to preview how it will look under clear polish.

Rule 3

Add 10–15% for wastage

Defects, matching and trimming eat leaves. A tight count leaves you short.

Rule 4

Store flat and dry

Keep bundles flat, covered and off a damp floor until pasting, especially in the monsoon.

Rule 5

Compare the finished cost

Ask each quote for veneer, polish and labour separately so you compare like with like.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of veneer sheets in Ahmedabad?

Veneer is priced per bundle or sheet and varies by species, cut, grade and format, so dealers quote on the day. Recon veneer is the most affordable, natural ash, oak and teak sit in the middle, and smoked, walnut and figured veneers are premium. WhatsApp Samta Plywood the type and quantity for today's rate.

Is veneer cheaper than laminate?

Usually not once finishing is included. Laminate is finished when pasted; veneer needs polish and polishing labour. A 7 × 3 ft door with laminate on both faces costs about ₹4,940 at our store, which is the benchmark to compare against.

Which veneer is the cheapest?

Recon (engineered) veneer is generally the most affordable real-wood veneer. It is uniform from sheet to sheet, which also makes it easy to match across a large wardrobe.

Why do two teak veneer quotes differ so much?

Grade, cut and figure. Clean crown-cut or quarter-cut leaves from a good log cost more than leaves with knots or streaks. Ask to see the bundle, not just a sample leaf.

How many veneer sheets do I need?

Measure every face to be veneered, including the back faces of shutters, divide by 32 sq ft per 8 × 4 sheet, and add 10–15% for wastage and matching.

Is veneer cheaper than solid teak?

Yes, by a wide margin. Solid Ghana teak works out to over ₹130 per sq ft at 18 mm at our timber rates, while veneer gives the same face on stable plywood for much less.
