About White Ash
White Ash is a pale, tough, springy hardwood with a bold open grain that finishes superbly under clear polish. Its light colour makes it the go-to for contemporary furniture and bright, modern interiors where teak's deep tone would feel too heavy.
It is hard and strong — ash is the traditional choice for tool handles and sports equipment for good reason — but like Meranti it is best treated as an interior timber rather than one for wet or outdoor use. For a warmer tone at a similar budget, compare it with the teaks; for a cheaper light-coloured softwood, see NZ / German pine.
